Donations made to our non-profit, L'Association 'La Muse' pour la creation et la culture en Montagne Noire et Cabardes, are completely tax deductable and go toward our residency and fellowship programs as well as to La Muse cultural and artistic initiatives both here and abroad.
Moving forward La Muse's future goal is to have every individual artist that comes to La Muse to do so for free. Unfortunately La Muse cannot do this alone. Already, La Muse has given exhibitions of local artists' work as well as resident attendees, donated fellowships to the writing departments of the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin in the United States as well as offered a "Wildcard Fellowship" that anyone anywhere can apply for. The Eielson-Fannings have done all this out of their own pocket. They have also done it by using their very modest freelance incomes to support La Muse, in addition to raising young twins and a new daughter. Out of loyalty to their mission, the owners politely refuse inquiries by parties who are looking for short-term touristic visits which would earn them a lot more money than a stay of a creative nature. The Eielson-Fannings would love to do so much more, but again their operating costs will not allow this to happen just yet, but with your help they can make it happen soon!
In the interim La Muse's mission is to keep La Muse accessible to both emerging and established artists and writers and to provide for them a space in which they feel inspired and focused on their work. Because La Muse is not supported (at present) by any foundations or grants, it cannot afford to offer more than a few residencies a year as well as a barter opportunity nearly every month. Those presently offered are not underwritten by any foundations; La Muse is simply giving a room for one retreat or more to writers and artists who apply, and it does this in order to support artists and their work.
The Eielson-Fannings hope to broaden the residency program through donations made to the association, and are truly and eternally grateful for all your generous contributions. Please contact us with any questions you might have about La Muse.
