Moving forward, La Muse’s future goal is to have every individual artist that comes to La Muse to do so for free.

Unfortunately we cannot do this alone. Already, La Muse has given exhibitions of local artists’ work as well as residents, donated fellowships to the writing departments of the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin in the United States as well as offered a “Wildcard Fellowship” that anyone anywhere can apply for.

The Eielson-Fannings have done the above out of their own pocket. Out of loyalty to their mission, the owners politely refuse inquiries by parties who are looking for short-term touristic visits which would earn them a lot more money than a stay of a creative nature. The Eielson-Fannings would love to do so much more, but again their operating costs will not allow this to happen just yet, but with your help they can make it happen soon!
In the interim La Muse’s mission is to keep La Muse accessible to both emerging and established artists and writers and to provide for them a space in which they feel inspired and focused on their work. Because La Muse is not supported (at present) by any foundations or grants, it cannot afford to offer more than a few residencies a year as well as a barter opportunity most months.

The Eielson-Fannings hope to broaden the residency program through donations, and are truly and eternally grateful for all your generous contributions.

Please contact us with any questions you might have about starting a fellowship, residency program or sending an artist to La Muse by filling out this form.
