Euterpe is a lovely double with a decorative marble fireplace and an en-suite shower.
Euterpe means “rejoicing well” or “delight” from the ancient Greek “well” and “to please.”
As with all our rooms she was named after one of the Muses, the daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus.
Called the “Giver of delight”, when more recent poets gave roles to each of the Muses, she was assigned as the muse of music.
In Classical times she was also the muse of lyric poetry depicted holding a flute. A few say she invented the aulos or double-flute, although certain writers say Marsyas invented it.
The room shares a toilet with Melpomene and Thalia. (There are two other public toilets in the house.)
