Cathar Country
Located in the heart of Cathar Cassoulet country, the house is steps away from fresh water from a natural spring, wild mushrooms, walnuts and chestnuts in season, swimming at the lake in Pradelles, the Cubservies waterfall and the delightfully fun and eccentric Villeneuve Minervois Truffle Festival in December, January and February.
La Muse is also situated in the midst of the National Walks system that stretches into the hills and villages through well kept trails (here are some photos of the valley).

You can also golf in Mazamet or Carcassonne, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Centre sites of Lastours and the fortified medieval citadel of La Cite, discover the Grotte de Limousis, Gouffre de Gabrespine and the many surrounding markets.
Or you can always go on wine tastings, climb at O2 Aventure beside the Lac de Cavayere beach, or simply sit and picnic by the Canal du Midi UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
Eating and Drinking
Dining at the Michelin-starred Le Puits du Tresor down the road in Lastours is always good but for fun there’s always the wonderful Sire de Cabaret restaurant down the road in the nearby village of Roquefere, where Carmen and Patrick will serve you classic mountain meals at very reasonable prices.
And when they’re not open, next door is the bucolic cafe Le Fenial, where Marie and her husband serve ice-creams, salads and homemade biscuits on their panoramic terrace. Downstairs they sell local wines, honey and homemade jams, compotes and sweets.
Across the street is the Oules family, beekeepers, who sell various different types of local honey. And down the road, on the way to Mas Cabardes, the next village down the mountain, is trout farm where you can guy fresh fish.
